Background
The Canada Olympic Committee (COC) approached Jones DesLauriers with a request for proposal. I was then tasked with creating a custom proposal document that would not only showcase their commitment to promoting Olympic sports in Canada but also reflect the active and professional spirit of the Canadian sports community. A key requirement was to incorporate the iconic Olympic colours into the layout and design of the document.

Opportunitites
-  Capturing the essence of professional sports and active lifestyles within a formal proposal document.
- Incorporating the Olympic colors in a way that felt organic and not overly corporate.
- Ensuring the document remained cohesive and visually engaging throughout.
Approach:
We started by immersing ourselves in the world of Canadian sports and the Olympic spirit. We wanted the proposal document to convey the dynamic and vibrant nature of Canadian sports, so we decided on a concept that celebrated the pursuit of excellence and the unity that the Olympics represent.

Color Palette:
The Olympic colors (blue, yellow, black, green, and red) were pivotal in representing the COC's connection to the Olympics. We used them as accent colors throughout the document. To maintain the professional tone, we incorporated these colors subtly rather than prominently. The main color scheme consisted of deep blues and crisp whites, allowing the Olympic colors to pop when necessary.

Imagery and Photography:
To infuse an active and energetic feel, I integrated high-quality images of Canadian athletes in action. These action shots were strategically placed to emphasize key sections of the document, creating a visual narrative that reflects the spirit of Canadian sports.

Layout and Design:
To incorporate the Olympic colors, we used them for call-out boxes, section dividers, and visual hierarchy elements. Each section was introduced with a color that represented a different Olympic value, such as excellence, respect, and unity, reinforcing the COC's dedication to these principles.

Iconography:
Custom-designed icons showcased different Olympic sports and helped break down complex information into easily digestible sections. These icons used Olympic colors and abstract representations of athletes to maintain a dynamic feel.

Cover Design:
The cover was a critical element in setting the tone for the entire document. We designed a bold cover featuring a striking image of a Canadian athlete in action, enveloped by the Olympic rings. The Olympic colors were subtly integrated into the design, making the document instantly recognizable as a COC proposal.
Results
The final proposal document successfully captured the essence of Canadian sports and the Olympic spirit, blending a professional tone with dynamic elements. The incorporation of Olympic colours gave the document a unique and memorable visual identity while ensuring it remained cohesive. The COC's commitment to excellence, respect, and unity was effectively conveyed through a visually engaging and active layout.
This custom proposal document design not only met the client's objectives but also exceeded expectations in terms of creating a visually striking and engaging document that reflected the active and professional sports culture in Canada. The incorporation of the Olympic colors added a memorable and iconic touch, further enhancing the chances of winning the proposal.
